Absolutely amazing experience!!!! I’m so upset that I don’t live in Minnesota cause I would have definitely been coming back. They fit me in on a last minute appointment to fix my splash guard and it was such a good vibe in there. Not intimidating at all.

I recently went on a,5800 mile trip in my 2013 Hyundai and had no problems (even in 119 degree heat!) after Kyrie and her crew worked on the under carriage of my vehicle. I always leave the shop with a good feeling after their service. John

Okay I have debated writing this all night, but I am really, really unhappy with my service yesterday. I brought my car in for a couple of issues. My Subaru was making some loud noises, and the AC wasn't really working. Dropped it off in the morning, was told I'd get an itemized list of issues later in the day, and I could decide from there what I wanted to get fixed. No mention of any charges at that time. Now, I can assume that there would be an inspection cost, but was not told the inspection alone would run me $175. If that was the only surprise cost, I'd be annoyed for sure, but I could live with it. What I am the most upset about is the air conditioning situation. I get the itemized list of things that are wrong mid-day. It is SHOCKINGLY high. Over $500 for labor for each service. Total cost for my axle and rear wheels would've been about $2 grand. I can live with a high estimate- that's what second opinions are for (and other garages have quotes significantly less). I notice that the AC fix is on there for nearly $300 to fix. There is NO way I want to pay $300 for that, when I know I can get it for about half that cost at my hometown garage, and it's August, so I don't care too much to get it fixed. I brought it in to get inspected. I call the shop to check to make sure I can just get my car and drive it home post inspection, and that there's nothing that would make my drive home unsafe. I am then told that I can't choose to not service my AC, because they already went ahead and did it, and my total is now over $400. In the moment, on the call, I didn't even fully process what I was being told. When I hang up, and am really, really frustrated. I didn't authorize this, I wasn't asked about this charge, they just went ahead and did it anyways, and I have no recourse. I am not given any options, just to come in and pay that much. I go online and reject all the services, because now I have decided that this is not a garage I can trust. When I go to get my car, the man at the front throws a lot of terms at me, in a way that doesn't seem to be up front, but seems to try to exhaust/confuse me so I just give up and deal with the extra charges. I am told "oh, I mean, we can take out what we put in for your ac, but that would take hours, sooooo". At this point, I am so frustrated, I pay and leave. As a young woman, it is really important to me to not feel like I am being strung along or taken advantage of for not knowing about cars, and I immediately felt grossed out. I do a lot of research before I take my car anywhere because I don't want to walk away with extra sneaky charges because the shop chose not to disclose them. The reviews on this garage made me trust that I could come here, but that is clearly not the case. I don't care what you charge for labor, that's not what this is about. I can always take my car somewhere else if that is too high. I am upset that there was no communication about charges/services before they were done. Even the inspection charge needs to be communicated up front. I have never been to a garage that hasn't communicated that. I am unbelievably hurt and frustrated, and would implore anyone reading this review to think twice before coming here, especially if you have limited knowledge about cars yourself.

Great place to come for sure John and Foster are very good people got us taken care of and we felt so very blessed to have met them definitely coming back to get our wheel alignment when they start doing them…. Definitely 5stars

Nelson's crew is amazing. They found my truck's AC leak, fixed the line, & refilled it. They were transparent with pricing and repairs. Work was done swiftly. I now have cold AC during this heat week. Thank you to the team, highly recommend.

Great Communication and excellent customer service. Dropped my car off for there oil change Special and they did a full inspection to let me know my vehicles general health!

I had an issue with my car this morning that needed to get in immediately. I called 3 different car dealerships and explained the urgency and was either told there were no openings until next month or I talked to an AI bot that didn’t even get to a service technician. Then I called Nelson’s and they were receptive, got me in within 20’ of the phone call and fixed my car within 2 hours. On top of all that I know I would have been charged an astronomical amount if I had gone to a dealership and they did not gouge me on price. I highly recommend taking your car here.

I can't recommend Nelson's Family Auto in Chaska enough. I've brought my A6 in twice now, once for routine maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, alignment), front sway bar links, and an MMI display wiring issue then again for a backup camera replacement. From start to finish, Mark and John were friendly, communicative, and genuinely cared about getting everything right. They kept me updated on repair status, offered me a loaner that I ended up not needing, and honored their original backup camera quote despite spending additional time diagnosing the issue. The camera really did need replacement due to water intrusion, but we also discovered the parking aid display had been turned off in the car's settings, so we initially thought the replacement was defective (my fault, I should've known that as the owner lol...). They even worked with me to have my car ready for pickup over my lunch break. The quality of the work speaks for itself, and it's clear everyone there takes pride in what they do. Nelson's is the kind of shop you want working on your car, and I'll be back for future service!

I had my brake problem checked out by Nelson's Auto and was surprised that they did not gauge me with unnecessary expenses. In fact they saved me a lot by doing only what was necessary to satisfy good results. I was happy to choose the right shop to do the job.

Expensive and bad at their job. I would have been fine with expensive and great at job. Took my Subaru thrice. Each time the job was done poorly that it ended up causing new problems. Last work I got done is yesterday and came back with a new clanking. They told me beforehand blaming it on the struts and gave me a quote of $2700. Took the car today to Les Schwab who found that the work from yesterday was bad And that while struts are old they were not the reason behind the new issue. Also when I asked Les Schwab for a quote for struts it was $1000 less. I am not go to this place ever again.

I can not remember his name but the man who was working the front desk when I brought my car in was so so helpful and nice. He was honest and fair about what I needed to fix now versus in the future. I brought my car in in the morning and it was done by early afternoon. Great experience, highly recommend.

Don’t know how my old review got deleted….but imma make sure this keeps coming back. Went in because the car had acceleration issues and the engine was making a knocking sound. They told us it was our catalytic converters that needed changed; sure whatever, we trust that you know what you’re talking about. Got charged like $2,500-$3,000 to “fix” it. After the service I noticed that the catalytic converter system was multiple inches lower in our undercarriage than before. After speaking to someone on the phone they had us bring the car back; they “fixed” the problem. After a few days the car still seemed to have the same persistent issues, so we decided to take it in to another shop and get a second opinion. They told me that there were additional issues that should have taken priority over the converters but it wasn’t a bad choice to fix. They did however look at the installation and confirmed for us that they couldn’t fix another shop’s problem, but the installation job was horrible; using basically a zip tie to “fix” the problem the second time through. They additionally confirmed that the price we paid for the catalytic converter installation was well over normal cost; and after my own research I confirmed the price was over normal market values by almost $1,000. We have since tried to reach out to Nelson’s to fully fix the installation with no response whatsoever. I had originally made a review a year ago and it’s disappeared somehow. So here we are, I’m not letting this review disappear cause people deserve to see the good and bad. Thanks for making my car a $5,000 fix when it should have been half that. This place is top notch!! THE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Above and beyond. Safe to say I found my new auto shop. The honesty and transparency; they didn't try to upsell unnecessary services. If you're looking for an auto shop, I highly recommend Nelson's!!

I caught a flat on the highway on the way in to work a few months back. Called around to five different places in the neighborhood, no one was helpful at all. (I have some weird aftermarket wheels on my Jetta that have lug bolts instead of nuts and couldn't get the flat off to replace with the donut.) The guys at Nelson's had me pop over, they were able to get the tire off and gave me good advice on buying a tire iron that fits the stupid aftermarket lug bolt adapter. They were fast, kind, helpful. Absolutely saved my arse.

Love these guys. Good pricing, easy scheduling and communication, and repairs were done way quicker than I expected. They have never let us down, 10/10.

They did a good job on my car by fixing a very annoying noise that other mechanics failed to resolve. Mike coordinates the service very diligently, keeping us informed all the time. Prices are ok. I will be back.

The person I was in communication with the entire time (I believe his name is Derrick?) was incredibly professional and explained everything that was going on with my car and its repair to me perfectly. I don’t have time to deal with car issues on top of everything else, so finding a mechanic I can actually trust is a huge deal. Nelson’s Family Auto was amazing. They were honest, knowledgeable, and explained everything in a way that made sense without making me feel talked down to. I never felt like they were trying to upsell me or take advantage of the situation, which is something I really appreciate as a busy mom. They made the whole process easy and stress free. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Had a great experience at Nelson's! I had a bad experience with another local shop that left my lug nuts loose after rotating my tires. Even after I went back and had them check it, I wanted a second opinion. Terry and the team at Nelson's took a look same day and really helped me out!

I can’t recommend Nelson’s Lakeside Auto enough. I took my work truck in for ball joints, pitman/control arms, and a brake system diagnosis. Nelson went above and beyond—he was completely honest and didn’t try to tack on unnecessary repairs. The crew is easily the best in the business; they got the job done quickly and kept me informed the whole time. They even gave me a heads-up on some preventative maintenance to keep an eye on, which I really appreciated. If you need honest, high-quality work, take your vehicle to Nelson’s.

Eric and his team are always friendly, accommodating, and willing to answer all of my husband’s random questions. We find them to be reasonably priced and as someone who has very little trust in car-related businesses, I fully trust them to be honest and provide quality service. We are so grateful to have found them right here in the neighborhood.

I brought my Subaru here to get a diagnosis and they were just great. I really appreciated the patience and kindness of the shop staff. Seriously, after finding out I need a new transmission they didn’t even charge me for the diagnosis. I’m a doc student and have 0 extra dollars to my name, made my situation a little brighter. Will definitely bring my car back to get the work done.
