These guys did a fantastic job on my brakes! My 2018 Toyota 4Runner was shaking when I applied the brakes. It was bad. Seems like a rotor replacement is in order. I took the vehicle to another shop and the found that not only did I need new rotors, but my front tie rods were loose and needed replacement. Fine. $1634 later the problem seems fixed but returns a few weeks later. I take it back to them *two* more times and after nearly $5k of work they still couldn't fix it. So I took my vehicle to Nelson's and they worked on it. They re-did some of the same work as before but with better parts, and then did other stuff that the first shop didn't do. It wasn't cheap. It was reasonable, and it was 100% worth it! My only regret is not taking my vehicle to Nelson's in the first place. Since the guys at Nelson's worked on my vehicle, it's driving and braking like new! I couldn't be happier!

Like many of the reviews here, I cannot recommend this shop enough, especially for classics or carbureted engines. They are EXTREMELY honest and upfront about the work they will do and what it will cost. Had taken an old c3 Corvette to a few other shops to fix issues I couldn't myself to no luck and large bills. When I called Nelsons lakeside auto I was greeted by Mike, who couldn't be nicer. He kept me up to date on all work, whether that be via phone call or text message, I never had to wonder or worry about my car. The mechanic, Wes, was also extremely nice and communicative. He called before every bit of work and explained why it needed to be done in language I could understand. It is rare to come across such a combination of skill, communication, honesty, and kindness. If you care about your classic, this is the shop.

Would highly recommend. I was very impressed with their quick and thorough service. Dropped my car off the night before, they were able to diagnose the issue and quote me almost immediately after opening. To my surprise they were finished with the work the next day and gave me information about future work! Great communication and very polite, I will be coming back.

Wow! What a gem! Nick and all staff are wonderful! 10/10 recommend! They have helped my daughter with her flat tire a couple of times and looked over a noise she was hearing. They have been absolutely great to work with so informative!

Had my a/c repaired on my 2011 Ranger today. Communication before and after was excellent, no surprises. Work was done promptly and got my truck back before the close of business.

Mike at the counter is awesome, you won't meet a nicer gentleman. Every time I need something with one of my vehicles, he's on it, and exceptionally fast at getting me back on the road. Amazing service!!

I recently took my car in for an urgent repair....frayed timing belt! They were able to get me in right away for a thorough inspection and found things that also needed tending to. It was all ready to go by the next day and the approval and payment system was clear and easy to do on-line. Mike was gracious and welcoming and I can't say enough good things about my experience! I'm so glad to have them in my neighborhood!

I've been bringing my car to Lakeside since they moved in. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. They get me in as quickly as possible, keep me informed as to what needs to be done and how much it will cost, and have always treated me fairly and with respect. I highly recommend them. FYI, if you look at old reviews on YELP, the reviews mentioning Jerry are regarding the previous shop that was located where Lakeside is now. They have nothing to do with Nelson's Lakeside.

Five Stars We bring all of our family vehicles to Nelson’s, and they continue to prove why they’re the absolute best in the business. I recently brought in my work truck to have a larger fuel tank installed. We ran into an issue with the third-party parts I supplied, but the team didn't skip a beat. They worked through the problem with incredible patience, kept me completely informed along the way, and handled the job flawlessly. It’s rare to find a shop that combines top-tier craftsmanship with fantastic communication and problem-solving. I can’t say enough good things about this team—we won't take our vehicles anywhere else!

I just had a tire repaired. These guys fixed it fast and are extremely professional. The shop and waiting room is very clean. Overall, very pleased will be using them again.

Just went because I couldn’t take out a nut that was holding my previous License Plate. The guys in the shop were super sweet and helped right away, I’ll definitely come back with any car issues and would recommend this location!

Short story. My exhaust was hanging off my car and I needed help to get the last bolt off. Said they would charge me 60 bucks. I get there and they blow torch it off and don’t charge me anything. They also give me the information on what I need for replacement parts and where to get them. Outrageously kind and friendly. I think they have a customer for life. Thanks so much, guys.

Awesome place. Quick service and great customer service. I was here on a vacation and woke up to the tire being completely flat. I called around to several places who told me it would take hours. I was in and out in 20 mins here. John was great! Thanks again!

Absolutely amazing experience!!!! I’m so upset that I don’t live in Minnesota cause I would have definitely been coming back. They fit me in on a last minute appointment to fix my splash guard and it was such a good vibe in there. Not intimidating at all.

I recently went on a,5800 mile trip in my 2013 Hyundai and had no problems (even in 119 degree heat!) after Kyrie and her crew worked on the under carriage of my vehicle. I always leave the shop with a good feeling after their service. John

Nelson's crew is amazing. They found my truck's AC leak, fixed the line, & refilled it. They were transparent with pricing and repairs. Work was done swiftly. I now have cold AC during this heat week. Thank you to the team, highly recommend.

I had an issue with my car this morning that needed to get in immediately. I called 3 different car dealerships and explained the urgency and was either told there were no openings until next month or I talked to an AI bot that didn’t even get to a service technician. Then I called Nelson’s and they were receptive, got me in within 20’ of the phone call and fixed my car within 2 hours. On top of all that I know I would have been charged an astronomical amount if I had gone to a dealership and they did not gouge me on price. I highly recommend taking your car here.

I can't recommend Nelson's Family Auto in Chaska enough. I've brought my A6 in twice now, once for routine maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, alignment), front sway bar links, and an MMI display wiring issue then again for a backup camera replacement. From start to finish, Mark and John were friendly, communicative, and genuinely cared about getting everything right. They kept me updated on repair status, offered me a loaner that I ended up not needing, and honored their original backup camera quote despite spending additional time diagnosing the issue. The camera really did need replacement due to water intrusion, but we also discovered the parking aid display had been turned off in the car's settings, so we initially thought the replacement was defective (my fault, I should've known that as the owner lol...). They even worked with me to have my car ready for pickup over my lunch break. The quality of the work speaks for itself, and it's clear everyone there takes pride in what they do. Nelson's is the kind of shop you want working on your car, and I'll be back for future service!

I had my brake problem checked out by Nelson's Auto and was surprised that they did not gauge me with unnecessary expenses. In fact they saved me a lot by doing only what was necessary to satisfy good results. I was happy to choose the right shop to do the job.

I can not remember his name but the man who was working the front desk when I brought my car in was so so helpful and nice. He was honest and fair about what I needed to fix now versus in the future. I brought my car in in the morning and it was done by early afternoon. Great experience, highly recommend.

I caught a flat on the highway on the way in to work a few months back. Called around to five different places in the neighborhood, no one was helpful at all. (I have some weird aftermarket wheels on my Jetta that have lug bolts instead of nuts and couldn't get the flat off to replace with the donut.) The guys at Nelson's had me pop over, they were able to get the tire off and gave me good advice on buying a tire iron that fits the stupid aftermarket lug bolt adapter. They were fast, kind, helpful. Absolutely saved my arse.

Love these guys. Good pricing, easy scheduling and communication, and repairs were done way quicker than I expected. They have never let us down, 10/10.

They did a good job on my car by fixing a very annoying noise that other mechanics failed to resolve. Mike coordinates the service very diligently, keeping us informed all the time. Prices are ok. I will be back.
